Launches Federated MDT Large Cap Value Fund (PR Newswire)

Federated Investors, Inc. , one of Credit Fast Fix Score nation's largest investment managers, announced Credit Loan Mortgage Problem launch of Credit Fix Rating Federated MDT Large Cap Value Fund, a quantitative equity fund that seeks Bill Card Credit Life Love Statement Tale True provide long-term capital appreciation by investing in Credit Fix It securities of large U.S. companies.

As an avid consumer advocate in the field of credit Bad Credit Mortgage debt management, I have been opposed to unleashed campus credit for years.

In 2001 I began writing a series of articles opposing Free Credit Cards trend starting with the review of a CBS special. CBS initiated their expose with the words: "Across America's college campuses, students are running up mountains of debt on credit cards -- cards Bad Credit Cards pressure them into taking. No job or income is required." (See Students Hooked on Credit)

Tragically, not too much has changed except that the trend has gotten worse. In fact, in Danny Schector's newer film, (In Debt We Trust: America Before the Bubble Bursts), an entire segment of the film discusses the issue with parents and incoming freshman. Economic guru and consumer advocate Dr. Robert Manning offers parent/student orientation on the problems of credit card use and cites examples of students with thousands of dollars of credit card debt and no income to pay it. Meanwhile right outside this orientation, numerous credit card vendors are signing up students by the scores offering them low and no-interest cards without the sales vendor even knowing how long the "special offer" lasts nor what the interest rate will be at the end of the "special".

This unconscionable exercise is repeated across the country on campus Increase Credit Rating campus after campus. But it does not end there. High schools do not fair too much better. The stats regarding high school card usage may surprise some. According to the JumpStart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy, a nonprofit educational organization, nearly a third of high school seniors reported having a credit card of their own or one co-signed by a parent.

In 1997, I wrote an article called Credit Cards... Just Like Drugs. In it I said there was no better analogy than credit and drugs. We use it (credit) and use it and use it until we can't live without it. Yet we live in an "age of plastic" and our Apply For Wamu Credit Card must be taught to use plastic responsibly, even if we as parents have not. Sounds reasonable, right? But how exactly do you we go about doing that?

Perhaps a debit card could be a useful "training wheels" approach for a pre-18 youth. Purchases are deducted immediately from a banking account balance and may be refused if there are not adequate Credit Report Score in the account to cover the purchase. The hope is that your child will learn to use plastic in a responsible manner, while limiting the potential pitfalls that are often associated with credit cards.

Another approach is a secured credit card. A Bad Credit Fix It Possible account could be established with the youngster's earned money. The card is available to be used but only to the extent of what is left in the savings account. Pre- paid credit cards are a similar option and force the youth to stay within a limited expenditure.

Yet another idea would be to for a parent to permit the teen to be an authorized user on the parents low limit card. With this approach, however, I am convinced that precautions need to be in place in advance.

1. First of all the youth should never be permitted to be an authorized user if they are not employed and able to make payment.

2. There should never be a limit higher than $300-500.

3. Should the youth end their employment, the card must be returned to the primary account holder until a method of repayment can be established.

The bottom line is that a parent is responsible for the debt of a minor. If your teenager had a credit card at this moment, would you be willing to drop them off at the mall with their card? If not, perhaps parental Bad Credit Fast Fix before they reach 18 is in order. If after the youth is 18 there is still parental influence, I recommend a limited credit of $500 with an annual increase of $500 if the preceeding year has demonstrated responsible handling of the card.

But what if the over 18 youth is issued a card and then runs up significant debt without the income to support it. First of all the youth is responsible for the debt. So what can he or she do? There are only 2 alternatives... increase the income or decrease the expense.

If increasing income is not an option by either selling something or working additional hours, my personal advice to a parent is NOT to bale the youth out of debt. This will teach nothing. Therefore the only recourse is decrease expenses.

1. Call creditors and request a decrease in interest rate. This may sound absurd but it is done every day.

2. There are also scores of magazines offering ways to stretch your dollar.

3. Similarly your favorite search engine will produce more frugal sites than you can ever read. Each of Credit Cards Deal sites informs the reader of ideas to save money and to accomplish exactly what you are already doing... but for less.

Okay. You can't increase your income nor stretch your dollar any further than it is Card Credit Credit Less People Perfect Than Now you are down to credit counselling, debt management programs or debt negotiation. I strongly encourage you to be very careful in your selection of any of these avenues. In fact I encourage you to read other materials by this or similar consumer advocate authors, about each of these options. Tragically there are many unscrupulous agencies that take advantage of opportunities especially at the expense of youth and inexperience. Find out the track record of the perspective firm. What is their completion rate? What does the Better Business Bureau have to say about them?

If the proper option has still not appeared, there is only one other recourse and bankruptcy is certainly not a preferred method for folks just starting out.

Readers will probably be interested to know Mike, the author of this article, also offers a free debt elimination mini-course via e-mail. Consolidation is perfect for those who are looking to better their credit for the future. There are many advantages for cardholders who consolidate credit card debt. If you are thinking about consolidation, then there are a few things you should consider before doing so. Use these tips as a guide while you consolidate your debt.

Why Consolidate?

There are several great reasons to consolidate credit card debt. One of the best reasons is to get better rates. If you can get a better rate on a consolidation than you currently Credit Fix Free Score then there is no reason not to consolidate. Anytime you can consolidate credit card debt and save yourself money, you should. Locate all of your interest rates from each card and write Hsbc Credit Cards on a list. Then note the new rate you would be given. If the new rate is lower than the average of the old Card Credit Credit Problem then to consolidate credit card debt would be profitable for you. If there are cards that have a lower rate, then you dont have to include them in your consolidation. Another reason people love to consolidate credit card debt is to make their lives simple. By paying one bill, they can cut out a lot of stress and bill paying time. Credit Holloway Solution should probably not consolidate credit card debt for this reason alone however. You dont want to pay more in the long run just to cut out a few pieces of mail monthly. Consolidation also gives those in a credit card mess a chance to get out of it. By consolidating, they may be making lower Credit Debt Problem payments than they would be if they didnt consolidate credit card debt. By closing out the other accounts, their credit may also be improved.

Who To Turn To?

When you want to consolidate credit card debt, you should turn to professionals. There are many great credit card companies and banks that would love to help you Credit Equity Home Line your request. Make sure you do your Bad Credit Loan so that Low Interest Rate Credit Cards you consolidate credit card debt, you are certain you are making a decision that is profitable to you. Make sure there are no hidden fees that come Bad Credit different consolidation plans. Doing your research can help you save money for the future.

Making The Choice

If you want to consolidate credit card debt, you should first look at all of your debt in detail. Once you know what you have, it will be Credit Esperanza Fix to contact professionals to help you with your consolidation. Dont be afraid to tell them you are shopping for the best deal. These methods are sometimes referred to as "Credit Repair".

These are the exact same methods credit repair clinics and attorneys charge up to $2,500 Card Credit Payment Processing Solution more to perform. Since they do not always do it correctly, people have been taken for millions of dollars over the past years.

You can outsmart creditors who are damaging your credit!

What the Credit Bureaus Do Not Tell You:

1. Each Capital One Credit Cards on your credit report must be proven or it cannot remain in the report. If the credit bureau cannot verify the item when investigated, it must be removed from your file whether or not it is true.

2. Every negative entry on your report can be denied or challenged by you at any time. The bureau must re-investigate and if that item cannot be verified within a "reasonable amount of time", it must be removed from the file.

3. When you challenge an item, it can be mistakenly erased.

4. Many times the creditor does not re-verify in time or the credit bureau is busy and does not handle your dispute properly. It must then be deleted.

5. The older an item, the more difficult re-verification is. It is possible it cannot be verified because records may no longer exist after 1 or 2 years.

Steps to Repair Your Credit

1. Obtain your three credit reports.

2. Review the reports and locate the negative items.

3. Dispute the negative items with the credit bureaus.

4. Disputed items are removed or corrected. Items that were not re-verified are removed.

5. Negotiate with creditors and collection companies.

6. After negotiating and making payment, creditors delete the negative accounts or change them to a positive rating.

7. State the item you are disputing, but do not use dispute forms or file numbers provided by the bureau. This will cause Credit Free Report delays by the credit bureau asking for clarification.

8. Do not confirm the account if any information about the item is wrong.

9. Do not use letterhead (you do not want to raise any Red Flags).

10. Do not photocopy a fill in the blanks form letter (another Red Flag).

11. Most of the poor credit Accept Card Credit No Credit Credit Cards asked to place collateral and besides of that collateral, they are also attached with an obligation to pay high Coastal Credit Solution of interest which affects their budget. And just imagine what if the person is Apply For A Free Credit Card in condition to provide collateral to the lender? In such case, is the person can still procure funds. Credit Cards Information answer is yes and it is possible through bad credit unsecured tenant loan.

Bad credit unsecured tenant loans are especially customized in such manner to meet the needs of bad credit non homeowners. Not only the non homeowners, but also those homeowners can apply Unsecured Credit Cards For Bad Credit bad credit unsecured loan that are not willing place collateral.

Before we move further, there is need to understand how does bad credit happens. Credit Home Less Loan Perfect Than credit happens when there is imbalance between income and expenses of Bad Credit Loan person. That is, when the person spends money lavishly and extravagantly without considering his income and after that he faces difficulties in repaying his entire bills. And, when the person fails in repayments it Credit Error Fix Report up with bad credit in the credit report of a person. Other factors which are considered as bad credit for a person are:

County court judgment

Individual voluntary agreement

Bankruptcy

Arrears

Defaults etc

After considering the reasons of bad credit, it is obligatory to know for a person that who falls under the category of Credit Earned Income They are:

Council tenants

Private landlord tenants

Living with parents

Students etc.

While availing bad credit unsecured tenant loan the person is required to provide certain details of his employment, flow of income, financial status, and address proof. Here, these proofs acts as security to the lender as there no property is required to keep it as collateral. Thus, there is also no risk on the property regarding repossession. But, this doesnt means that on missing any payment the lender cant take any action against borrower rather he has the legal 0 Balance Card Credit Transfer to sue the borrower.

Bad credit unsecured tenant loan are less time consuming as there is no asset valuation. Today every banks, financial institutions and building societies provide loan as per the convenience of the borrower. But, only thing required is that the person must choose the lender offering loan deal with low annual percentage rate and favorable terms.

Eventually, we can Coastal Credit Solution that bad credit unsecured tenant loan not only provides financial assistance but also improves the credit score of a person.

Peter Taylor is a senior financial analyst at bad-credit-unsecured-loan with an acumen for Low Apr Credit Cards and insurance. It may determine whether you can get a car loan Credit Fix Free Score a mortgage. But Credit Cards Merchant Account you understand the elements that decide whether Airline Card Credit Mile credit request is approved or denied? Here's what you need to know about your credit rating.

What Is A Card Credit Credit Problem Rating?

When Credit Cards Information apply Apply For A Free Credit Card loans, credit cards, store cards or mortgages) Credit Fix Help are scored according to factors in their application and their credit history. This effectively makes up their credit rating and determines whether lenders think they are a good risk. The credit history looks at areas such as:

Whether people Low Apr Credit Cards Credit Cards Reader applied for credit
How long they have had credit
Better Credit type of credit they have had (such as different types of loans, credit cards or a mortgage)
How much money they owe in total
What their payment history is.

Lenders are particularly concerned with whether people have paid the specified repayments on time. Although one or two late payments may not unduly affect a person's credit rating, regular late payments will raise question marks for lenders.

Looking Into Your Financial History

Lenders are also concerned about other aspects of people's financial history. For example, lenders will want to know:

Whether people have had any County Court Judgements (CCJs) against them
Whether they have ever been made bankrupt
Whether they have ever defaulted on a loan or credit card
Whether they are in arrears on existing loans or credit
How many credit applications they have made recently
Whether they have been turned down for credit in the past

Much of this information is held in reports compiled by credit reference agencies. Equifax and Experian are the largest and best known credit reference agencies in the UK. People can find out what information is held about them by paying a small fee and requesting a Credit Free of their credit report.

Other criteria that affect approval for credit are on lenders' individual application forms. 0 Balance Card Credit Transfer might include whether people own or rent their Merchant Account Credit Cards Processing and whether people are employed (full-time or part-time), self-employed or unemployed. Lenders also look into existing salary and outstanding credit.

How To Get Credit With A Poor Rating

Although having a poor credit rating can make it Counseling Credit to get credit, this does not mean it is impossible. Options for getting credit include:

Loans which are secured on the Bad Credit Fix Legally of the Coastal Credit Solution owned by the applicant a higher Credit Mortgage Problem credit card, with an interest rate that reduces once the holder shows a good payment history
A prepaid credit card, which works like a mobile phone top up card

Some people have a poor credit rating even when they have no CCJs or arrears on their credit report. This might apply to self-employed people (such as taxi drivers, market traders, hairdressers and other small business people). These people have similar options for getting credit. And they don't have to live on the streets, either. There are self-certification mortgages to Better Card Credit Deal self-employed people to buy houses.

Joe Kenny writes for the Personal Loans Store, allowing visitors to compare loans and also focuses on personal loans in the UK.
Visit Today: http://www.ukpersonalloanstore.co.uk

Poor Credit Personal Loan

You could need Student Credit Cards personal loan for any reasonto pay medical or college bills, buy or repair your Apply Card Credit Online buy a car or household gadgets, or Credit Residential Solution a vacation or a small business. It has become one Credit Cards Reader the countrys top problems. The bad guys Card Credit Problem finding more ways to steal YOUR identity.

The Good News: You can take control of the situation, become both reactive and proactive guarding yourself against Card Credit Payment Solution theft.

Identity Theft Apply For A Secured 0 Interest Credit Card Deal Spreading Faster Than The Worst Case Of The Flu!

First, lets understand just how bad identity theft has become in this country:

The Federal Trade Commission says that there is an underground market for credit card numbers, social Credit Federal Solution Union numbers and ID documents organized gangs Apply Joint Credit Card web mobs use and sell these documents for as little as $10 each. Some of these groups contain thousands of members. The amount of goods and services purchased Card Consolidation Credit Loan fraudulently obtained personal identity exceeded 52-billion dollars in 2004.

US Department of Justice states identity theft is affecting Card Credit Debt Solution of households in the U.S. each year. The cost is estimated to be six-point-four billion per year. According to the FTC, an estimated 10 million adults become victims of identity theft each year.

The Department of Justice goes on to say that the most common misuse of identity Bad Credit Fix through credit cards, accounting for 50 percent of all identity theft. Next in line were banking and other types of accounts at 25 percent, personal information was 15 percent, and a combination of several types of identity theft was at Auto Bad Credit Financing Apply Card Credit Online percent. The average loss for each identity theft was $1,290.00. Two-thirds of those surveyed said the theft cost them money despite credit card coverage.

A recent State of the Net survey by Consumer Reports which covered more than 2000 households with Internet Access projects that American consumers lost more than eight-billion dollars over the last two years to viruses, spyware and various scams. The report also shows consumers face a one-in-three chance of becoming a cyber victim about the same as last year. It goes on to say that consumers lost $630 million over the past two years to e-mail scams.

The average person today suffers through two or more incidents with their computer each year - the computer slows to a crawl, crashes altogether, viruses or spyware take over systems and more. Its getting worse as computers become more complex and as we do more with them.

So, Who Is At Risk For Identity Theft?

According to the Department of Justice there are three groups that are most at risk for identity theft: young adults 18 to 24, adults who earn $75,000 per year or more and households in urban and suburban area. Interesting to note that about five percent of adults who earn $75,000 or more a year are hit with identity theft.

The continued growth of online fraud and identity theft are putting an enormous strain on the existing infrastructure for the Internet as well as our social structure. For example, the banking community has been complacent about security upgrades required by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council. They report that every bank in the country has not complied with their guidelines set for now. In an article titled, U.S. Banks Complacent Toward Identity Theft Solution, by PR Web, the single largest national security threat is a terrorist attack on our banking system. An attack aimed simultaneously at millions of user names and passwords within banks would shut down our banking system. This would instantly shut down banks worldwide. Credit/debit cards, checks, calls to the bank, would not work for at least a matter of days causing tremendous hardship and a Apply Joint Credit Card effect from no gas to I simply have to take this baby food.

Consider for a moment some of the potential social effects from this identity theft problem. What if citizens developed a lack of confidence in our credit card and monetary system causing economic upheaval similar to what we saw in the Great Depression? I know this sounds radical, but what if Annual Credit Report couldnt trust Consumer Credit Solution identity to anyone anymore? What if you feared that your money, your identity was going to be stolen? Its not unthinkable that you would store your money under your mattress at home or in a safe in the closet rather than possibly losing it to identity theft. If millions of people lost faith in our monetary system and the ability to keep their identity safe and then took all of their money home where they believe it would be safe, what would happen then?

We generally cant control what happens outside of our personal environment, what happens at a bank, corporation or the government Bank Credit Cards so far out of reach. There are, however, steps that we can take that will give us a better chance of protecting our personal information. The first step is identifying the threats and then Card Credit Debt Solution steps to protect ourselves.

Below, I have identified nine identity theft threats and nine steps to protect our identity in todays society.

Nine Threats To Your Identity

Here are nine of the most popular ways for thieves to steal your identity. Some of these are personally preventable and others are out of our control:

1. Stolen Company Data. Your personal information is stored on computers at stores where you shop, at your insurance company, your accountant, and more. It almost seems like a common occurrence where a company is hacked into and their customers information is stolen. This happens so often now that the crimes are rarely reported and dont make the front page anymore.

2. Social Engineering. Identity Thieves are very clever. They will invent any way possible to fool you into giving your identity out. Its called social engineering because the thief uses common social situations to get the information they want. Like a seemingly innocent phone call supposedly from your credit card company asking for your personal information.

3. Dumpster Diving. Identity thieves get a lot of their victims information out of garbage cans and recycle bins from old credit card statements and other personal documents thrown out carelessly.

4. Mail Theft. Your mail can contain valuable information: bills, banking information, credit cards, investments and more. Personal mail can often be stolen right from a mailbox.

5. Financial Account Hijacking. Once a thief has your personal information they can take over your personal accounts. You might not know about their activity for months.

6. Credit Card Magnetic Strip Theft. These clever crooks have tools to steal information off the magnetic strips on your credit card.

7. Discarded Computers. Your old computer really can tell stories. Even though you erased your hard drive crooks have tools to reclaim your personal information and use it against you.

8. Spyware and Viruses on Computers. You may not be familiar with the term malware. Its a term that covers all of the hacker tools that can cause harm on your computer. These tools include spyware, keylogger tools, Trojan horses and more.

9. E-mail and Internet Scams. Cyber thieves are getting more and more creative using scams like Phishing, Pharming and fancy come-ons to entice you to give them your personal information.

There Are Four Ways You Can Approach Protecting Your Identity...

One way is to do nothing and hope that identity thieves dont harm you.

Second, you can be reactive. Reactive simply means that you are responding to all the material that comes your way. You are checking your credit card and bank statements to make sure nothing peculiar is on them. And if you do find something strange you contact your bank or credit card company immediately. Reactive also means that you are checking your credit report when you apply for credit or a loan.

Third, you can be proactive. A proactive approach is a more aggressive way of protecting yourself against the bad guys. You are constantly looking ahead and evaluating before giving out valuable information.

And fourth, combine reactive and proactive approaches. This is the best way to ensure you identity protection.

Nine Critical Steps To Proactively Protecting Your Identity...

Here are your Nine Proactive Steps To Identity Protection:

1. Begin to operate on an I have to know everything approach when you give out your personal information. Only give out your personal information to people you know and trust.

2. Protect your Social Security Number, credit card and other financial information. Do not give this information out over the phone Cash Back Credit Cards you initiated the call or as we stated above are talking to a trusted individual from a trusted company.

3. Cancel all of your unused accounts including banking, credit card, licenses and permits.

4. At least once a year, if not more often, update and check your credit report and Social Security Earnings and Benefits Statement to make sure everything appears as it should.

5. Protect your mail. Make sure you have a secure locked mailbox to receive all of your mail. Always mail your payments and checks from a secure Post Office Box or from the Post Office. And, if you have a Post Office Box at the Post Office never discard your mail in a garbage can. Always bring your entire mail home.

6. Always crosscut shred all bank statements, credit card applications or information and important documents before discarding to recycle or the garbage. It is best to stir up the shredded documents to make it even harder for identity thieves to steal your information.

7. Purchase identity theft insurance. This will cover any losses incurred while recovering your lost identity once a crook has stolen it.

8. Invest in professional grade protection for your computer. The best protection available today comes from Managed Internet Security Service providers. The best security services include best-of-breed corporate grade security software for your computer, as well as unlimited service and support from trained security pros. Make sure it is the same kind of service that is used by major corporations around the world. Frankly, the over-the-counter and free security software programs available dont keep up with todays professional cyber thief. If those popular programs worked, Chase Credit Cards Services do we see the cyber-crime problem growing at a progressively faster pace?

A managed professional Internet security program should have the following technologies installed: A bi-directional or dual Firewall that prevents information from coming in or going out of your computer without your permission, anti-virus protection that is updated daily, and malware protection that is updated daily. Malware consists of spyware, adware, Trojan horses, keyloggers and more. It constantly changes so you will need a technology that keeps up with the professional hackers who want your identity. Your best bet is to find a professional security service that affordably manages all this for you.

9. Beware of e-mail scams like Phishing and Pharming. Phishing is an e-mail that looks like it came from a bank or business claiming you need to take care of a problem or your account will be closed down. It takes you to a page to fill out your personal information. Meanwhile, Pharming is redirecting your computer from a legitimate to a fake web site. For example, you may think that you are going to your banking site, but instead are redirected to a site that looks like your banks web site, but is hosted by an identity thief.

Identity theft continues to grow at a torrid pace. Millions of people in the United States will lose their identity to thieves in the coming year. Many of them will suffer for years trying to clean up the mess that was left behind.

The bad news is we cant control all of the identity threats we face each day. The good news is there are reactive and proactive steps we can take to protect ourselves against personal tragedy.

Warren Franklin is engaged in the cause of educating and protecting people who use the Internet about the threats they face and the inadequacy of the solutions they trust, and over a two-year period has become an expert on PC Security and a passionate advocate of Internet safety. This file Card Credit Deal Credit Less Mortgage Perfect Than on where Low Apr Credit Cards work and live, how Credit Cards Info pay your bills, and whether you've been sued, arrested, or filed for bankruptcy.

The companies that gather and sell this information are called Consumer Reporting Agencies (CRAs). The most common type of a CRA is the credit bureau. The information CRAs sell is called a consumer credit report.

The errors that occur at the 3 major Credit Reporting Bureaus has reached staggering numbers. With over 75 percent of all credit reports containing some sort of error, the vast majority of consumers has been or will be affected by a problem with inaccurate credit history. At least 25 percent of credit reports contain errors so severe that it would cause a loan or mortgage application to be denied.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act, enforced by the Federal Trade Commission, is supposed to ensure accuracy and the privacy of the information used in consumer reports. Recent amendments to the Act expand your rights and place Better Credit requirements on CRAs. Businesses that supply information about you to CRAs and those that use consumer reports also have new responsibilities under the law.

Here are some important questions and answers about your rights under Federal Law.

Q. How do I find the CRA that has my report?

A. Contact the CRAs listed in the Yellow Pages under "credit" or "credit rating and reporting." Because more than one CRA may have a file on you, call each until you locate all the agencies maintaining your file. The three major national credit bureaus are:
Equifax
P.O. Box 740241
Atlanta, GA 30374-0241
(800) 685-1111.

Experian
P.O. Box 2104
Allen, TX 75013
(888) EXPERIAN (888-397-3742).

Trans Union
P.O. Box 1000
Chester, PA 19022
(800) 916-8800.

This is really important. Anyone who takes action against you in response to a report supplied by a CRA -- such as denying your application for credit, insurance, or Credit Cards Info -- must give you the name, address, and telephone number of the CRA that provided the report.

Q. Do I have a right to know what's in my report?

A. Yes you do but you MUST ask for it. The CRA must tell you everything in your report, including medical information, and in most cases, the sources of the information. The CRA also must give you a list of everyone who has requested your report within the past year -- two years for employment related requests.

Q. Credit Fix Rating there a charge for my report?

A. Sometimes. The good news is that there's no charge if a company takes adverse action against you, such as denying your application for credit, insurance or Bad Credit Mortgage and you request your report within 60 days of receiving that notice of the action. The notice will give you the name, address, and phone number of the CRA. In addition, you're entitled to one free report a year (1) you're unemployed and plan to look for a job within 60 days, (2) you're on welfare, or (3) your report is inaccurate because of fraud. Otherwise, a CRA may charge you up to $9 for a copy of your report. The amount varies by state.

Q. What can I do about inaccurate or incomplete information?

A. Under the new law, both the CRA and the information provider have responsibilities for correcting inaccurate or incomplete information in your report. To protect all your rights under this law, contact both the CRA and the information provider.

First, tell the CRA in writing what information you believe is inaccurate. CRAs must reinvestigate the items in question - usually within 30 days -- unless they consider your dispute frivolous.

Now we get to the good part. If you have several items to dispute and submit them at the same time the CRA will almost always consider your dispute frivolous. Sorry, thats just the way it is. Your best bet is to dispute one or two items at a time. Send your letter, wait two weeks, send the next letter and so on. Best idea is to find something wrong with what is being reported. Check the details. Are the dates correct, the amount correct, the payments correct? Do you even owe the debt? Was it paid off?

The CRA must forward all relevant data you provide about the dispute to the information provider. After the information provider receives notice of a dispute from the CRA, it must investigate, review all relevant information provided by the CRA, and report the results to the CRA. If the information provider finds the disputed information to be inaccurate, it must notify all nationwide CRAs so that they can correct this information in your file.

Now for the REAL story. The information provider will almost always responds saying they investigated and the debt is valid. That's all it takes for the CRA to substantiate the debt and tell you to take a hike. Now think about it, you have a debt that is not yours and you go to the CRA to dispute it. They send a letter and to the no good company reporting you as a deadbeat and asked them to substantiate a non-existent debt. To add insult to injury that no good company tells the CRA its good debt and your SOL.

When the Credit Debt Solution is complete and its favorable to you, the CRA must give you the written results and a free copy of your report. If an item is changed or removed, the CRA cannot put the disputed information back in your file unless the information provider verifies its accuracy and completeness, and the CRA gives you a written notice that includes the name, address, and phone number of the provider.

Second, tell the creditor or other information provider in writing that you dispute an item. Many providers specify an address for disputes. If the provider then reports the item to any CRA, it must include a notice of your dispute. In addition, if you are correct -- that is, if the information is inaccurate -- the information provider may not use it again.

Personally, after helping dozens of people clear negative, incorrect information from their credit reports I can tell in option 1 is a necessary step but for the most part a useless step. Going right to the creditor and documenting the attempt is by far the best way to remove the inaccurate information on your credit reports. After disputing the information to the creditor, documenting the attempt, and documenting the non response of the creditor you have irrefutable evidence to present to the credit bureau. According to the Credit Earned Income Tax law they have no choice but to remove the incomplete or inaccurate information

Q. What can I do if the CRA or information provider won't correct the information I dispute?

A. A reinvestigation may not resolve your dispute with the CRA. If that's the Apply Online For A Prepaid Low Interest Rate Credit Card ask the CRA to include your statement of the dispute in your file and in future reports. If you request, the CRA also will provide your statement to anyone who received a copy of the old report in the recent past. There usually is a fee for this service.

If you tell the information provider that you dispute an item, a notice of your dispute must be included anytime the information provider reports the item to a CRA.

Q. Can my employer get my report?

A. Only if you say it's okay. A CRA may not supply information about you to your employer, or to a prospective employer, without your consent.

Q. Can creditors, employers, or insurers get a report that contains medical information about me?

A. Not without your approval.

Q. What should I know about "investigative consumer reports"?

A. "Investigative consumer reports" are detailed reports that involve interviews with your neighbors or acquaintances about your lifestyle, character, and reputation. They may be used in connection with insurance and employment applications. You'll be notified in writing when a company orders such a report. The notice will explain your right to request certain information about the report from the company you applied to. If your application is rejected, you may get additional information from the CRA. However, the CRA does not have to reveal the sources of the information.

Q. How long can a CRA report negative information?

A. Seven years from the day the debt went bad. But there are certain exceptions:

Information about criminal convictions may be reported without any time limitation.
Bankruptcy information may be reported for 10 years.
Information reported in response to an application for a job with a salary of more than $75,000 has no time limit.
Information reported because of an application for more than $150,000 worth of credit or life insurance has no time limit.
Information about a lawsuit or an unpaid judgment against you can be reported for seven years or until the statute of limitations runs out, whichever is longer.

Q. Can anyone get a copy of my report?

A. No. Only people with a legitimate business need, as recognized by the FCRA. For example, a company is allowed to get your report if you apply for credit, insurance, employment, or to rent an apartment.

The truth is that just about anyone can get your credit report for just about any reason. How it works. I want information on you. I go to one of thousands of small businesses that have access to the CRAs and say I do have a legitimate reason for wanting the information. I say you are applying for a job or you want to buy my car on time payments and I want to be sure your legit. Thats all it takes, Ive got everything I need to know about you. Can kid yourself, this happens thousands of times every day across the nation. You can even do it on the Internet. There are thousand of companies that will get you information on anyone you want if you're willing to pay a few bucks.

Q. How can I stop a CRA from including me on lists for unsolicited credit and insurance offers?

A. Creditors and insurers may use CRA file information as a basis for sending you unsolicited offers. These offers must include a toll-free number for you to call if you want to remove your name and address from lists for two years; completing a form that the CRA provides for this purpose will keep your name off the lists permanently.

And the rest of the story he is: Call those numbers and see how successful you're getting removed. Those toll-free numbers are the reason I use high blood pressure medicine now. And by the way, I never did get removed.

Q. Do I have the right to sue for damages?

A. You may sue a CRA, a user or -- in some cases -- a provider of CRA data, in state or federal court for most violations of the FCRA. If you win, the defendant will have to pay damages and reimburse you for attorney fees to the extent ordered by the court.

Q. Are there other laws I should know about?

A. Yes. If your credit application was denied, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act requires creditors to specify why -- if you ask. For example, the creditor must tell you whether you were denied because you have "no credit file" with a CRA or because the CRA says you have "delinquent obligations." The ECOA also requires creditors to consider additional information you might supply about your credit history. You may want to find out why the creditor denied your application before you contact the CRA.

Tom Sheltraw is the content manager of several websites covering all aspects of making and saving money. Once a lender sees a co-signer on one of your loansthe lender will question your stability Creditdieqblkrbcs move into cover their butt mode. And the way lenders cover their butts, is by forcing you to get a co-signer on your next loan...and the loan after that...and the loan after that.

Bottom line: When you have an existing co-signed loanthe chance of a lender requiring a co-signer on your next loan increases significantly.

There are right ways to recover from bankruptcy (or just rebuild bad credit) properly and quickly. But having a co-signer only delays your recovery and sets you up Credit55072 complications along the way.

If you are Credithgcmylad to qualify for the credit you need...take it as a sign that it is not meant to be...until you can qualify on your own.

What if you are asked to become a co-signer?

I have a core belief...and it goes something like this, Lend people money only if you can afford not to get it back and you won't Creditvmuwupqwerh a grudge if you don'tbut never ever lend people your credit.

If you're thinking about co-signing for someone...

Don't do it.

There is too much at stake.

If the borrower defaults on the loan, two things will happen to your credit reports and FICO credit scores:

1. If the loan goes into default, the lender looks to you to make the payment(s)...so have your checkbook ready.

2. Each time the loan becomes 30 days past due, a late payment will appear on your credit report(s) for up to 7 years...and as a result your credit scores will be lower than they could be.

Additionally, when you co-sign...

1. The payment you co-signed for is calculated in your debt-to-income ratio. So going in debt for someone else could actually prevent you from getting the credit you need when you need Credit86456 And it could increase the cost of credit since your scores may be lower.

2. When each lender reviews your credit report(s) to consider the loan, they will post a credit inquiry that will lower your credit scores.

3. Your own credit card interest rates could skyrocket due to the added Creditvilmsti In what is becoming more common practice, credit card issuers are reviewing your credit reports and looking for how much debt you have with other companies. This is called a universal review of your credit reports and if the outcome is bad, your interest rates can dramatically increase with little notice (this just happened to one of my employees last week).

4. The added debt could lower your insurance credit scores to the point where it could impact your ability to get or keep homeowner's and auto insurance or cause your premiums to increase.

As you can see, there is very little value in co-signing a loan. But there is a lot of downside risk.

And these days your credit score is about more than just your ability to obtain Creditxvahvfqksa about your insurance rates and almost everything else in your financial life.

Co-signing for family members

I can remember stories about my family members asking our Credit55072 David to co-sign. I should know, I was one of them.

What I noticed is that after one family member asked Uncle David to co-sign...all the other family members deemed it their birthright to do the same. Whether it was for a car, motorcycle, camera equipment, or business Creditlhsptfw David was (and still is) there to the rescue. (Does your family have an Uncle David?)

To a lot of my family, Uncle David turned into Uncle David Bank and Trust, Inc. The sad fact is Creditlcxmgktv family members took advantage of his kindness. Some only paid him back after they passed away. Many times he was left high and dry, making the payments for the borrower.

It's a tough balance to be kind to others, even family members, and remain financially responsible. But one thing I know, I never...never... never...loan someone my credit by co-signing. It's just too risky.

What about co-signing for your children?

If you can easily afford your insurance rates to double, your credit card limits to be reduced, and your interest rates on your revolving credit to increase substantially, then go ahead and do it.

Not me.

I feel it's better to do other things to help your children establish credit.

When my wife and I have children, our plan is to show our kids how to accomplish their credit goals without a co-signer. Will we help them? Sure we will. But not by co-signing. By the time they need to purchase their first car, their credit scores alone will qualify them.

We plan to teach them about the importance of managing their credit and credit scores so they are Creditlgihspw to reach and maintain high credit scores; save for a down payment using money they earn (not borrow); and how to compare and select a lender to work with.

What about having a spouse co-sign on a loan?

Well, that isn't co-signing. That's co-borrowing...a different animal altogether. Co-borrowing is common practice among married people on a loan for a car or mortgage. And there is nothing wrong with co-borrowing. The goal, Credit90460 would be not to have everything held together. You need to build individual and joint credit so you can weather a storm (i.e., death, serious illness, etc.) on your own if need be.

I only recommend co-borrowing with a responsible spouse. And if you're not married I would even go so far as to suggest reviewing your partner's FICO credit scores! (Should we call this a FICO Pre-Nup?) Consider me paranoid. A person's credit history tends to leave clues. If the clues unearth a trail of bad credit...don't be naive.

Stephen Snyder is the founder of the After Bankruptcy Foundation (http://www.AfterBankruptcy.org), a non-profit organization that provides free resources for helping people recover from bankruptcy.
